The Baker Family

We’re located in Salem, Oregon, and our love for dogs—especially Golden Retrievers—runs deep. For Marcy, Goldens have always been her heart dogs. Their temperament, loyalty, and gentle spirit mirror her own in many ways, creating a bond that feels truly natural.

When we began planning our breeding program, we took a thoughtful and deliberate approach. We spent years learning, researching, and waiting for the right time. After raising four boys into young men, we felt ready to begin this next chapter.

Our foundation girls, Paige and Becca, marked the beginning of our journey. Today, we’re proud to be into our fourth generation of Golden Retrievers. Each litter brings new lessons, and we continue to grow with every experience. We believe that learning comes from being hands-on with the joys and the challenges of raising these incredible dogs.

Guardian Families

We have chosen to use guardian families for the breeding dogs in our program. This ensures the breeding dogs are placed in their forever families from the very beginning. Families are highly vetted, and are invested in providing an enriching life to the dogs as family pets first. These dogs will produce our next generation of Goldens, thus, we are continuously involved in their upbringing, including boarding, training, and other types of bonding. The dogs live with their families, but move into the “maternity ward” in our home to whelp their puppies. They are spoiled as they raise their young puppies for the first eight weeks. Even though each breeding dog is a part of a different human family, we give them opportunities to spend time together to feel comfortable together as a pack.

Health Testing

We understand the importance of responsible breeding. Our breeding dogs are all DNA tested to prevent genetic disease. They all have clearances through OFA for hips, elbows, heart, and eyes (which are done yearly.) Their individual testing can be viewed under the dogs’ profiles on the ‘Our Ladies’ and ‘Our Studs’ pages.
